Oxford picks up where it left off

OXFORD – Oxford picked up where it left off at the end of last year when it made a surprise to the Section IV, Class C finals.

Blackhawks senior Amanda Brown connected on a header one minute into the second half for the go-ahead goal leading the Blackhawks past the Bulldogs.

Ashley Ballard and Kelli Whitehill added tallies for Oxford, and Misty Golden made three saves.

SHERBURNE – McGraw weathered repeated S-E scoring attempts to tie the contest, and held on for the 15th Annual S-E Tournament title Saturday night.

All-Tournament pick Nicole Law broke loose for the go-ahead goal tallying at 14:56 of the first half.

S-E, which fought back in its opening game, had three close-range scoring attempts over the final 10 minutes of the first half and in the opening minutes of the second half, and continually pressured in the McGraw defensive third for most of the final 40 minutes.

McGraw tallied the opening goal just two minutes into the game with Law setting up Kierra Mack.
