Earlville signs agreement for police coverage

EARLVILLE – The Village of Earlville Board approved a resolution Monday authorizing the village to enter into a contract with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department for regular police coverage.

The village police department has not been active since April of 2006, when the police chief resigned. The board and Mayor Toni Campbell have been discussing options for police coverage since that time; however no service agreements were made.

Last night, the board passed a resolution authorizing the village to enter into a specialized law enforcement services agreement with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. The motion, made by William Excell and seconded by Mark Doeberl, passed with three consenting votes. Board member Kim Boomhower was not present for the meeting.
