CHENANGO COUNTY– This year’s Mr. and Mrs. Chenango County Fair will make their first appearance in the Fireman’s Parade Tuesday.

The Board of Directors of the Chenango County Agricultural Society have selected Jean Townsend and Alf Franklin to be representatives of the 161st Chenango County Fair.

Townsend and Franklin have been married for 56 years. They have been attending the fair for longer than they remember. “I like to go to the fair because of the candy apples and the exhibition hall,” said Townsend.

Both Townsend and Franklin are honored to be chosen as Mr. and Mrs. Chenango County Fair. “I was pretty thrilled and honored to be selected for the position,” said Franklin.

“We are very pleased to recognize this couple as representatives of our Agricultural Society and examples of this county’s agricultural heritage,” said Mary Weidman, president of the Chenango County Fair Board of Directors.

Congratulations, Aunt Jean and Uncle Alf! I think they made the right choice. Love from Wisconsin!
