EARLVILLE – With the recent addition of a new gazebo to Earlville’s Village Park, village officials decided to host a weekly “Summer Music in the Park” series for the first time.

Last week, the Village of Earlville kicked off its weekly summer music series as Captain Morgan and the Rhythm played to a crowd of about 90 village residents, and with six more weeks of great music to go, event organizer Debi Pierce hopes village residents continue to support the local entertainment.

“When we got the gazebo, the space opened itself to the opportunity to do something like this, and we decided to take it,” Pierce said. “It’s an opportunity to bring the village together.”

Pierce has scheduled seven weeks of free music in Village Park, and she has managed to do so with no budget to support her. The mostly local bands will perform at 7 p.m. every Tuesday night through Sept. 2.
