Chenango County 4-H Dairy Rodeo ropes 4-H’ers in

GREENE – On June 30, over 30 4-H’ers and their parents met at Antique Valley Jerseys in Greene to learn the finer points of showing and showmanship. 4-H’ers came from Chenango, Broome, Tioga, and Sullivan Counties to learn about hoof trimming, clipping, and training heifers to walk.

Three groups of 4-H’ers rotated through different stations to learn about hoof trimming from professional trimmer Keith Campbell, show clipping from CCE Broome Educator Brian Aukema, and showing from CCE Chenango Educator Janet Pfromm. Each child was allowed to select an animal to work with for the day and compete in a Showmanship Challenge to see who would be named Master Showman of the Dairy Rodeo. Congratulations to Kassie Abrams of Chenango County for being named Master Showman! Thank you all of the parents and volunteers who helped make the day such a success!
