“Starting a Small Business: Principles of Success” class starting

NORWICH – Commerce Chenango and Morrisville State College, Norwich Campus, are pleased to announce the second round of their course entitled “Starting a Small Business: Principles of Success”.

The 45 hour course begins July 9 at the college’s 20 Conkey Ave. location, and is being taught by Sheila Marshman, an experienced agricultural and small business professor. The course will be offered at no cost to eligible participants as a part of the Agri-Business and Commercial District Small Business Program being administered by Commerce Chenango. Classes will be held each Wednesday evening, July 9 through Sept. 24, from 6 to 9 p.m., and also on Saturday, July 12, Aug. 9, and Sept. 13, from noon to 4 p.m.



Students who participate in this course will learn the basic principles of owning and operating a small business, have the opportunity to develop their business plan, and be eligible to apply for low interest financing through the program’s revolving loan fund after completion of the course. The course will cover such topics as insurance, human resources issues, finances and borrowing opportunities, accounting, marketing, and much more.
