NORWICH – Demolition began today on the condemned home located at 49 Front St. in Norwich. The home, which has been vacant since a fire several years ago, was acquired by the city in April in exchange for the remission of property taxes owed on the property, approximately $1,748. No definite plans have been made for the property once the demolition is complete. The city is working to get rid of at least three other blighted properties as part of the Restore New York Grant. Demolition of the burned out house located at 52 Fair St. is expected to begin on Monday. The city is also planning to remove a condemned property located at 23 Grove Ave. and a vacant trailer located at 7 Waite St. Those three properties will be sold after new homes are constructed on the sites.
