Six on the Square marks anniversary

OXFORD – Tonight, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is celebrating its first anniversary. 6OTS, the volunteer-based venue recognized for its acoustics in an intimate setting, has had a great beginning year promoting music and the arts in the area! With a year of experience under its belt, 6OTS invites you to join in the festivities which will feature three talented local acts from Open Mic Nights.

There’s no better way to celebrate a first anniversary than to showcase local talent. 6OTS will start the evening off with those zany guys who host Open Mic nights: Gary Parker, Keith Carpenter and Ron Britton. These guys play folk music with a rock beat, and throw in some blues and jazz just for kicks.

Jacqui Rayne, Greene songwriter and folk singer, is the second act of the evening. Her melodic voice and soulful, heartfelt writing touches everyone in the audience. Many of you will remember Jacqui from the Song Writing evenings she hosted at the Night Eagle.

Rayne studied at the Liverpool School of Music and toured England, Ireland and many other parts of Europe. She has taught music theory and guitar to children and adults and was the Community Arts Coordinator for Ballindereen Co. Galway. In 1998, Jacqui moved to the U.S. and has been juggling family and farming with writing and playing music ever since. She has opened for acts such as Cherish the Ladies, Foster and Alan, Maura O'Connel and others. Friends may be happy to know that a new CD is in the works.
