Robotics Team wins Pennsylvania tournament

PENNSYLVANIA – FIRST Robotics team members representing five Chenango County high schools won a first and fourth place finish at the 12th annual Pennsylvania Area Robotics Competition tournament last week.

FIRST Robotics Team 145 played two robots in the tournament, their 2008 competition robot and a robot from a previous season modified for the tournaments’ overdrive game. At the end of competition play, Team 145 earned a final four finish with one machine and the tournament win with the other.

The team was also recognized for participating 10 years in the event.

Comprised of students from Norwich, Sherburne Earlville, Unadilla Valley and Bainbridge Guilford high schools, FIRST seeks to engage students in competition using science, engineering, teamwork and problem solving with limited time and resources. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics teams are comprised of students who build robots capable of completing assigned tasks and competing with other teams in the region.
