CHENANGO COUNTY – Chenango County’s voters head to the polls May 20th to approve or vote down their school district’s budget and to determine which candidates will become members of the school board.
School boards are responsible for making many decisions in each district from budget expenditures and curriculum offerings to personnel and materials needs. They meet once or twice a month.
• Afton - one available seat on the board, but no nominee.
• Bainbridge-Guilford - two seats available with incumbent, Jeanne Shields and newcomer, Howard Lockhart both on the ballot.
• Gilbertsville Mt. Upton - three incumbents, Harold “Manny” Button, Lisa Carkuff and Jerry Theis will run for three available seats.
• Greene - two seats available and write-in candidate, William Kline, seeks a position on the board.
