OXFORD – 6 On The Square cordially invites you to an afternoon meet-the-artist reception for Francis K. Wilcox, on Sunday. The music and arts center will feature the artist’s award winning watercolor and acrylic paintings, will include light refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the artist from 2 to 4 p.m.
Wilcox is a native of Oxford, where he was raised on a family dairy farm. After teaching music for 33 years, he has since pursued a new career in art. He studied in both Scotland and Tuscany, but primarily at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute, where his primary instructor and mentor has been Sandra DeVisser.
Wilcox’s work depicts rural scenery, much of what we see all around us, such as railroads, barns, farms, bridges and churches. He, however, captures beauty in the everyday scenery and is preserving our ever changing landscape in his art.
