SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville split a doubleheader against Sidney Saturday to salvage a three-game weekend in which it lost its opener to Herkimer Friday morning.

Chris Harvey had his second big pinch-hit of the week doubling in Mike McCredy in the last of the seventh for the one-run victory over the Warriors. Two days earlier, Harvey’s two-run homer added insurance in a non-league win.

In the nightcap, Travis Fusco completed a five-hit day over two contests with a two-run single in the sixth to give Sidney a split. “It was two evenly matched teams,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “They’re a young team, and we’re not quite where we want to be.”
