Oxford Library receives grant for building project

OXFORD – The Oxford Memorial Library was recently granted about $62,000 from New York State for an ongoing capital building project that will eventually expand the community’s resource and restore its historic character.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch (R-Guilford) made the announcement Tuesday. Local libraries across the state received $14 million from the 2007-2008 budget.

“Libraries are an essential resource to our community,” said the Assemblyman. “This funding will renew our local library branches and ensure they continue to meet the needs of our residents.”

The grant will cover just more than half of the estimated cost to upgrade the meeting room and office and work space areas, Nancy Wilcox, director, said.
