Marauders beaten at own game

Girls’ Basketball

Bishop Ludden 74, Sherburne-Earlville 46

VERNON – Sherburne-Earlville succumbed to a team that was a mirror image of itself, last weekend in the Section III, Class B-2 playoffs.

Ashley Cianfrilla had 19 points and Molly Byrne 18 for Ludden, who moved on to the class finals. “We got beat at our own game and they use the same defense we play,” said S-E coach Jeff Barry. “Man-to-man or zone, nothing we did on defense worked.”

Megan Record led S-E (17-5) with 13 points, while Courtney Kurtz had 12 in her final varsity game. “(Bishop Ludden) played a really tough schedule this year, and their record was deceiving,” Barry said. “They’ll probably win the whole thing, and they were the sixth seed.”
