Slippery roads cause pileup on Polkville Hill

NORWICH – At least two serious accidents were reported Wednesday involving a number of vehicles, but no injures were reported.

Above is an accident along Dan Main Hill Road in the Town of Norwich. An elderly gentlemen lost control of the vehicle due to the weather conditions at around 2:30 p.m. He suffered minor personal injuries and crawled his way back up to the top of the bank after having plunged nearly ten feet between several trees.

A second accident in the Town of Norwich took place along County Rt. 33, Polkville Hill Road Wednesday afternoon. The accident was originally the scene of a two-car property damage crash, but additional vehicles coming down the road also fell victim to “very hazardous conditions” and three additional cars ended up in a ditch attempting to avoid the first collision, according to the Norwich Fire Department. The emergency vehicles were unavailable to get to the scene at first because of the condition of the road.
