Oxford man accused of rape appears in court

OXFORD – An Oxford man accused of raping and molesting two underage children appeared in Chenango County Court Friday with a newly-appointed attorney.

Jason E. Heisler, 34, of 223 West State Road, Oxford, was indicted Nov. 29 for first degree rape (B felony), first degree sexual abuse (D felony), second degree sexual act and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Heisler has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him. In his last court appearance, Heisler asked that he be appointed a new attorney after being unsatisfied with his original representative.

The public defender’s office recused itself from representing Heisler because of a conflict from a prior case and so the court assigned a private attorney.
