Otselic Valley finishes first half of

Boys’ Basketball

Otselic Valley 72, Madison 29

SOUTH OTSELIC – The last time Otselic Valley started the season 10-0, it went deep into the Section III playoffs, but head coach Dave Loomis was quick to point out there is still half the regular season to play.

“This is a good group of kids, like that 2001 team (that started 10-0),” Loomis said. “There still is a lot more basketball to be played.”

The Vikings led by 15 at halftime and by 25 after three quarters as Loomis unloaded his bench the final eight minutes. In that time, the OV reserves finished the game with a 16-0 stanza. “I was able to utilize some of the bench players who have not seen much time the last few games,” Loomis said. “Tonight, everybody that went into the game made a solid contribution. It was a real good showing and I was glad to have this game.”

Taylor Duell scored 12 points, David Cerasani tacked on nine, while Dillon Brown, Eric Wentworth, and Robert Guyer all had eight points for the Vikings.

Cooperstown 60, Sherburne-Earlville 39

SHERBURNE – Cooperstown completed its first run through the roster of Center State Conference foes unbeaten beating Sherburne-Earlville Thursday, the third straight defeat for the Marauders (3-5).

Quinn Snyder scored 11 of his 13 points in a 17-4 third quarter pushing the Redskins’ lead to 26 points. “They’re one of the top teams in the league year in and year out, and they are again this year,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “They were pressing and trapping in the third quarter, and Snyder was the the beneficiary of that.”
