Council of the Arts to host renowned Latin artists

NORWICH – Friday evening a set of renowned musicians will grace the stage at the local theater, having played along side some of the top names in the business.

The Chenango County Council of the Arts will host a performance tomorrow for the Latin Cumbia Quintet, Grupo Greg Ribot.

At the top level of professional play in New York City, this Latin American music group has played along side some of the best jazz and Latin musicians in North America.



This acclaimed show of original and traditional Latin American music will come to the Council of the Arts in the Martin W. Kappel Theater on 27 West Main Street in Norwich at 7 p.m., Friday.

The five musicians come together to create a unique traditional Latin sound. Band leader Greg Ribot is an accomplished composer and his skills on the flute, siku, quena, saxophone and clarinet are renowned. Francisco “Pancho” Navarro is on the Argentine guitar or “charango virtuoso,” Vince Cherico and Nydia “Liberty” Mata sit at percussion and Andy Eulau plays the bassist.
