Tornado band takes 5th at Dome

NORWICH – Making their way to the Syracuse University Sunday, the Purple Tornado finale show turned out to be the best all season.

The Norwich field band headed off to the Carrier Dome for its final show of the 2007 season. Performing a show centered around music from “My Fair Lady,” all 60 members took part in the performance. Band Director Gretchen Shyne says throughout the performance it was apparent that the students as well as the audience was enjoying their performance. “They did great,” said Shyne. “It was the nest show all season.”

Norwich coming in fifth place in its class is a victory all of its own, the first-year band leader said. “This is the top competition that the small school category one can compete in,” said Shyne.
