Oxford 1, Groton 0
OXFORD – At this point, a win does not have to be pretty: It’s all about surviving and advancing.
The Blackhawks shook off the effects of an 11-day layoff and moved on to play at Candor Saturday in the Section IV, Class C quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. “We were in slow motion early on, and it was apparent that we had not played in a while,” said Oxford coach Tim Paden. “Groton played well and their record is deceiving (due the quality of their league). We didn’t expect any easy games at this point, and we’re moving on.”
Scott Seiler added to his team-record for goals in a season scoring his 33rd at the 26-minute mark of the first half getting a feed from Kilean Maynard.
Tom Gould made 11 saves for the shutout win, and was credited by Paden for making key saves early on when the Blackhawks were struggling.

Otselic Valley 3, Madison 0
MADISON – Otselic Valley, buoyed by a win over Madison earlier this month, looked nothing like an underdog to score a Section III playoff win Wednesday on the road.
David Cerasani scored two second-half goals for the Vikings (8-7-2) and Troy Rasmussen tacked on a third tally for the Vikes, who as the number 10 seed play at number two seed Cincinnatus Saturday.
“It was two entirely different halves,” said Vikings coach Dave Loomis. “They controlled the first half but were not able to score. We decided to control the second half, and were fortunate enough to make the most of our opportunities.”
Taylor Duell had eight saves for OV to earn the shutout.
