Duo pleads in string of burglaries

NORWICH – A man guilty of multiple burglaries in Chenango and Broome counties was sentenced in court Monday.

Brockton E. Jones, 25, Broome County, pleaded guilty to one count of felony burglary in full satisfaction of all charges.

“The defendant has a serious drug problem that led him to commit multiple felonies; this is not an excuse but only a reason. Hopefully he’ll take this time in prison to reflect on his own life and make some better choices,” said District Attorney Joseph McBride.

Jones was originally charged with six counts of second degree burglary and six counts of petit larceny for several break-ins that occurred this June. Judge W. Howard Sullivan sentenced Jones to three and a half years in state prison to run concurrent with his charges in Broome. He will also be on five years of post-release supervision. Jones was also ordered to pay back over $15,000 in restitution for the theft of GPS equipment, jewelry, electronics and cash.
