Norwich poetry team scores another victory

NORWICH – The Norwich High School has consistently nurtured a growing body of students with an increased capability of comprehending and expressing themselves through the art of poetry.

Recently the Norwich poetry team brought home yet another first place banner to decorate the interior of the school’s library. The banners lining the wall represent eight consecutive years of first-place dominance at the Annual Bright Hill Press, New York State high school poetry competition at the State University College of Oneonta.

This year’s event had 37 students from seven different schools competing in four categories: performance, nature, current events and formal.

Margaret Brower won first place in performance, Chelsea Butcher won first place in current events, Keegan Edwards took second in current events and Kristen Tomanocy won first place in nature. Teammates Joe Shaver and Tyler Cooper both placed in the top 10 over all.
