OXFORD – Trevor Nelson’s hard infield grounder led to an error and scored the winning run for Oxford (9-1), who rallied from six runs down to defeat B-G Friday.
James Ruff stroked a two-run single in the second for B-G, and Kyle Davy, Chris McGinnis, and Brett Hayes drove in runs to put the Bobcats up by half a dozen. “We have a lot of senior leadership on this team, guys expect to win, and that showed today,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
Steve Locke pitched 5 1-3 scoreless innings of relief quieting the B-G bats to earn the victory. Locke also went 4-for-4 on the day to lead Oxford’s batters.

Hancock 10, Afton 7
AFTON – Four errors led to seven Hancock runs in the top of the third, and Travis Drake shut Afton’s hitters down with four scoreless innings in Friday’s matchup.
Phil Sanford went 3-for-3 for Affon (1-8), Aaron Berkeley drove in two runs on three hits, and Scott Sickler had two hits and two ribbies.
The Crimson Knights are at Oxford Monday.

Oneonta 18, Norwich 3
ONEONTA – A 10-run third inning for Oneonta erased Norwich’s brief one-run advantage and led to the Tornado’s most lopsided defeat this season.
“This is the first one all year that really got away from us,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “They are an exceptional hitting team, and just caught fire in the third.”
Two errors combined with six basehits ignited the Yellowjackets’ attack. Devlin Vanderhoof had a double and a triple driving in three runs, and Lane Potter had three runs scored and two RBI.
Patrick Coates drove in two runs in the third on a double putting Norwich on top, 3-2.

Canastota 5, S-E 4
CANASTOTA – Sherburne-Earlville is hoping the close-game results turn the other way soon after a fourth straight one-run loss to start the 2007 season, and fifth straight one-run loss to Canastota over the past three seasons.
Nick Freund hit a two-run triple in a three-run third that tied the game for the host club to fuel a comeback win.
Drew Doscher laced a two-run double int he first for S-E, who left too many runners on base throughout the game, said head coach Brian Hicks. “Our pitchers threw well and the defense was good,” Hicks said. “We didn’t take advantage of our opportunities and we’re just not getting the timely hitting we need. I know that will come around and the kids do too.”
Ethan Sconzo, Sam McClain, and Jake Sampson finished with two hits for S-E, who host Sauquoit Valley Wednesday.
