Trojans rally in 4th quarter

Girls’ Basketball

Greene 50, Unadilla Valley 46

NEW BERLIN – Greene turned back Unadilla Valley’s upset bid Thursday ralling in the fourth quarter to hand the Storm their sixth straight defeat.

Barb Borst, Megan McDermott, and Lizzy Buhl all had four points in the last quarter, and Jessica Smith hit 3-of-4 foul shots in a 17-8 stanza. Smith finished with a game-high 17 points, and kept her club in the hunt scoring seven in the third quarter as UV extended a two-point halftime lead to five.

“We needed this win and led most of the game,” said UV coach Daryl Decker. “In the fourth quarter they just turned up the defense. We turned it over and rushed some shots. Everything was clicking for us for three quarters. We came out and played like we were supposed to.”
