NORWICH –Maine-Endwell scored the final 14 points of the game and outscored the Purple Tornado 20-3 in the final stanza to sweep by the host club in Friday’s matchup.

Reserve Amanda Zdimal scored all 11 of her points in the final quarter – mainly on outside shots – to lead the comeback for the Spartans.

Norwich stiffened on defense over the middle two quarters allowing just 11 points and grabbing a 28-23 edge after three quarters on the strength of 18 points from senior Kyra Collier. Collier finished with a career-high 20 in the loss, but no other NHS player had more than six.

“It was just a one-point game with about 2 1/2 minutes left,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham. “I think it comes down to confidence for us in pressure situations in a close game. We executed well most of the fourth quarter, but we didn’t hit our shots.”
