Greene 59, Walton 28

GREENE – Barb Borst hit four three-pointers on four straight possessions in the second quarter to break open a tight game in Greene’s opening-game victory over Walton Wednesday.

The Trojans scored all 15 of their second-quarter points on three balls – Jessica Smith had the other basket – and Smith scored six more points in the third quarter. “I was pleasantly surprised with this game to say the least,” said Greene head coach Bill Case. “I was glad our first game was at home. They had already played one game this season, and I was worried about that.”

Borst had a team-high 18 points, Smith added 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals. As a team, the Trojans (1-0) were 8-for-14 from beyond the three-point arc. Liz Wentlent tacked on 11 markers.

Greene plays at B-G Tuesday.
