NORWICH – The Bohemian Moon opened its doors in Norwich a year ago this week, and while it has not been an easy road, the loyalty of the customers and the staff has made it all worthwhile.
Many restaurants fail within their first year, but Brenda Gibbon, owner of the Bohemian Moon, has found the right combination of unique menu choices and comfortable favorites. “Because we’re so different, we either hit the right clientele or we don’t,” Gibbon said. She credits her customers, employees, family and city officials for helping the Bohemian Moon to become successful. “We have a lot of customers who come in once a week,” Gibbon said.
“People come in because they know they can hang out and talk,” said Gibbon, crediting her friendly staff, most of whom have been with her since the restaurant first opened. Gibbon thinks her low turnover rate might have something to do with her laid-back style. She rarely yells, and says dancing and listening to music is the key to success. “It’s a fun place to work,” she said.
