UV students to perform at Carnegie Hall

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley singers are getting ready for the trip of a lifetime – they’ve been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall this spring.

MidAmerica Productions has announced that Director Meredith Hudson and the Unadilla Valley High School choir are invited to participate in an upcoming performance this spring at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Members of the choir will be accompanied by other choruses pre-selected from North America. Unadilla Valley is the only school selected from New York state. Students will perform Faure’s Requiem, in Latin, on April 24, 2007.

Joining with the New England Symphonic Ensemble conducted by Dr. David Thye, the students will form a festival chorus. Participating along with the 16 students ,the parents and teachers are also performing.

“This is a muti-generational event. It’s a chance of a lifetime and a unique educational experience,” Hudson said. She says she is honored that Unadilla Valley is the only school from New York State to receive such an opportunity.

“The chorus received this invitation because of the quality of musicianship demonstrated by the singers and the exceptional recommendation given by Ms. Hudson’s choral colleagues,” Thye said. “It is an elite honor to be invited to perform at Carnegie Hall.”
