Libous encourages municipal cooperation

CHENANGO COUNTY – About 30 town, city and village highway workers gathered at the Chenango County Department of Transportation in Norwich Tuesday to see New York State Sen. Thomas W. Libous present a check for $225,000.

In an effort to encourage municipal cooperation and shared services, the money will be used to purchase a roller and a front end loader. Standing in front of examples of the equipment to be purhcased, Sen. Libous - who is chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee - said he was following-up on a meeting he had with highway superintendents here six months ago.

“This is more than just a check ... I wanted to show appreciation for the men and women who work on the local level and who make our transportation system a safe and effective system,” he said. “It’s a small way for me to show that the Senate Transportation Committee appreciates the work they do.”
