BPW bestows "Women of Excellence" awards

NORWICH – Women gathered from numerous professions and backgrounds to share their personal and professional successes at the 7th Annual Norwich Business and Professional Women’s conference Wednesday. The title of the day-long event was “Power Up for Success” – professionally, politically and personally.

The day was fulfilled with educational sessions, speakers, vendors, a panel discussion and a Chinese auction at the American Legion in Norwich. First to speak was Jude Thomas, a Sherburne resident who shared her own personal story of success at home and in the work force. Juggling a high-powered career, two disabled children and somehow finding time to take care of her own needs is a difficult task, she said.

“Yes, finding the perfect balance is simply a myth. There is no such thing as perfect balance between home and work,” Thomas said. “The one thing that does matter is that is not the quantity of time you spend with people, it’s the quality of time you spend.”
