GREENE – Greene did not yield easily to the defending state champions, and the Trojans were the first Section IV team to extend the Spartans to an overtime period this season.

Sara Sanders scored unassisted at the 5:34 mark of overtime giving M-E the victory. It was the second loss for Greene (6-2) this season, and both have come in overtime. “Jessica (Smith) played awesome in goal, and the defense was outstanding,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “We missed some little opportunities, but they will come. Maine-Endwell is a great team and they do not have a weak spot on the field. They have 11 solid players, and when you get past one superstar, you run into another.”

Greene hosts Owego Tuesday.
