NHS field band earns second place

NORWICH – Norwich High School’s Purple Tornado field band earned a second place finish at the Crystal City Band Competition, the third performance of the season held Saturday at Corning East High School Stadium.

Finishing third in the large school division three was Bath-Haverling with a 58.90, second place was Vestal with a 63.45 and first place went to Auburn scoring 72.80. In the small school division two class, second place went to Johnson City earning 66.15 and first place went to Corning East earning 67.25. In large school division two the lone entry was Horseheads scoring 77.70. In small school division one placing third was East-Irondequoit with 79.55, placing second with 79.95 was Norwich and first place went to Medina scoring 82.30.



“The kids gave the best effort of the season without a doubt,” Director of the Music Department, Don Burke said. “ This year’s show is more complex and challenging than shows in the past and the kids give the indication that they are ready for the challenge.”
