Norwich book store offers thanks to customers in Saturday event

NORWICH – A thank you celebration will be held Saturday at The First Edition Bookstore, 13 South Broad St. To show the community her appreciation for all of the support over the years, book store owner Lisa Mody invites the public to share in the fun.

A free craft table will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children and the young at heart will be making beaded and ribbon bookmarks. A Winnie the Pooh coloring contest will be held.

“Kids love characters,” Mody said. That is why she has scheduled Winnie the Pooh to appear. The honey-loving bear will be on hand to visit with the kids. He will be making appearances from 11 to 11:30 a.m., 12 to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 1:30 p.m.

Also appearing at the bookstore will be McDonough author Suzanne Bloom.

“Lisa is great,” Bloom said of the book store owner. “We try to do something (at First Edition) with each new book.”

Bloom, an author and illustrator, is scheduled to have haer tenth book released next fall. Her titles include “We Keep a Pig in the Parlor,” “No Place for a Pig” and her personal favorite, “A Splendid Friend Indeed.”
