Norwich restaurant to give southern flavor

NORWICH – Customers who visit the downtown site long known as John’s Hot-dog Stand will now be served fare with a southern flavor.

With the opening of TriniSoul Caribbean and Southern Cuisine on Monday, Norwich’s collective palate will be extended options unique to the immediate area.

“We are going to offer some things that some people aren’t familiar with,” owner Bryan Burchell said. The Norwich man and his wife, Deb Burchell, have put together a menu for the Hale and Birsall Street corner building that is reminiscent both of the American south and Deb’s country of origin, Trinidad.

There will be a solid selection of ribs, southern fried chicken and macaroni pie. The American south will be flavored with a hot jerk chicken, red snapper and, on occasion, crawdads.
