Carmichael dominant again at Unadilla

NEW BERLIN – Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael notched his sixth career overall win at Unadilla Valley Sports Center today before a crowd of 26,369 at the FMF Pro Motocross National, round six of the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship. Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto was the AMA Motocross Lites winner.

The win was the fifth straight on the season for Carmichael, of Tallahassee, Fla., and extended his lead over Yamaha's Chad Reed to 44 points in the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship standings. Honda's Kevin Windham, of Centreville, Miss., who was the only rider to beat Carmichael at Unadilla in 2003, finished second overall with a 3-2 moto finish. Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., was third (2-3). Reed, of Tampa, Fla., was fourth (4-4).

"They changed the track and the changes they made were good and it turned out in my favor," said Carmichael. "I actually fell in the second moto and I'm not sure anyone saw me. I was able to get back up and continue on and it didn't really affect the outcome."

Kawasaki 's James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., missed the second race of the season due to injury after a high-speed crash in morning practice sent him to the ground. He was checked out on site by track physicians and decided to sit out the race with overall stiffness and soreness.
