Flash Floods: State of Emergency Declared in Chenango County

NORWICH – A State of Emergency has been declared in the City of Norwich due to widespread flooding. Over a third of the City’s streets were closed overnight because of flooding on the Canasawacta Creek. A State of Emergency is also in effect for Chenango County. East Main Street and State Highway 12 in the City are impassable, as are a number of side streets.

“This is a very dangerous situation and people need to heed the warnings of emergency officials,” said City Mayor Joseph Maiurano.
