Oxford Softball Drops To Delhi In Final Game Of Season

DELHI – The Oxford Blackhawks softball team traveled to Delhi on Thursday afternoon for the MAC consolation round. Oxford fell 18-7 in what was their final game of the 2024 season. Oxford finished the season with a 3-8 record.

After trailing 7-0, Oxford got on the board in the top of the fourth inning as Margaret Rovente grounded out and Lily Marshman scored. The Blackhawks added two runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings and totaled eight hits. Two hits came off the bat of Marshman, senior Leah Oliver, and Abi Denz while Trinity Jones added one hit. Denz also led the team with two RBIs while Reagan Long, senior Ava Benjamin, Rovente, Jones all drove in one run each. Denz drove in the two runs on a triple in the top of the fifth inning as Rovente stole home and Oliver scored on Jones’ single in the sixth. Colette Kapauff scored on a passed ball and Ava Benjamin grounded out to drive in a run in the seventh.

Marshman went six innings on the mound for Oxford, where she struck out eight batters in the loss.
