CHENANGO COUNTY – Local Motocross rider Corey Burnett from Bainbridge, will be representing our local Chenango County area this Saturday, August 12 at the 37th annual Honda Unadilla National Pro Motocross Championship. Burnett obtained his pro status in 2017 by competing in a series of Pro-am events, where he achieved the points and experience needed to prepare for the pro races. He’s competed in many of the Unadilla National events, except missing one during COVID, where the race was still held, but he said there were many restrictions and was very limited.

Burnett, an officer for the Norwich Police Department, will be representing the Norwich Police Benevolent Association (PBA). By riding on their behalf, he hopes to “humanize” officers and show that they’re normal people, who also do a lot of cool things outside of work.

Aside from spreading this message, he enjoys the race and the atmosphere.

“It’s a family-friendly event and a fun experience,” Burnett said. “ Being local is very special, because you can see many friends, family, and people that you can recognize cheering you on.”

Be sure to catch Burnett in the 450 Moto class in person at the event with general admission for adults is $60 and $25 for kids ages 6-11 or the event will be televised on NBC from 4 to 5 p.m. with some live action throughout the day on the Peacock streaming app.

Good luck to Corey Burnett. Make Chenango County proud!
