ONEONTA – Greene, Oxford, and Bainbridge-Guilford joined Hancock, Harpursville/Afton, Delhi, and Sidney in the MAC League Golf Tournament held October 6.

While Sidney won the overall MAC league, Greene came out on top with the lowest score of 467 in the tournament. Sidney finished in second with a 480, Oxford came in third with a 535, and B-G earned fourth place with a 544. Harpusville/Afton, Delhi, and Hancock took the final three spots.

Leading the way for the Trojans was Parker Flanagan and Lincoln Youngs who tied with an 88. Trent Drew shot a 94 on the day with Clayton Leonard behind him with a 97. Anthony Thatcher rounded out the scoring with a 100. Austin Dehaan also joined his teammates but his 104 did not count in the final scoring.

Greene also won the sportsmanship award while Flanagan and Youngs made the first team all-stars and Drew and Leonard were on the second team.

Coach Pete Flanagan was impressed with his team’s performance all season.

“ Very proud of the boys for working hard all season. It was a nice way to end the year, both winning the tournament and having the co-medalist as well,” he said. “These boys have come a long way from just a few years ago not winning a single match.”

For the Blackhawks, Bennett Paden chipped in a team-best 90 on the day with teammate Kyle Benjamin behind him with a 99. The rest of the team struggled, ranging from a 114-117. The Blackhawks did see superb golfing from Degan Endress, Ethan Hodge, and Sylas Emerson this season, even if they weren’t their best in this year’s tournament. Paden made the first team all-stars and finished third for medalists.

BG saw Mike Lipani finish fourth overall with an all-star nod after shooting a team-best 90 with Julian Pruskowski behind him with a 102.
